Dr M : 22 fiascos in 22 years in power !!!

Many of those who worshiped Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad cannot understand why Malaysians blame TDM for the woes of the country. I have compiled excerpts of reports which were published in the media in past years to refresh the memories of Malaysians, as to why many Malaysians feel that TDM did more bad than good for the country in his 22 years.
MCPX

These 22 fiascos were published in the form of questions directed to TDM:

1. On clean government

You came to power in 1981 and introduced the slogan Bersih, Cekap dan Amanah (Clean, Efficient and Trustworthy). What did you do to further that? Did you make the Anti-Corruption Agency more independent and effective? Did you ensure that the police and judiciary did their jobs properly and reduce corruption in their ranks? Did you ensure that ministers and chief ministers not have incomesbeyond their legal means? How many big guns were prosecuted for corruption offences during your tenure? What happened to Bersih, Cekap dan Amanah?

2. Press freedom

Your criticism of the present government got plenty of coverage in the local media whereas, during your time, criticisms against you by two former prime ministers were muted in the mainstream newspapers. Editors in Umno-linked newspapers, too, were removed for not toeing the line. What did you do to advance the cause of responsible press freedom?

3. Proton

You went ahead with the national car project in 1983 despite a number of experts disagreeing with you, especially with respect to the lack of economies of scale. Isn’t it true that Proton’s profits over the past 20 years came from the vastly higher prices that the Malaysian public has had to pay to subsidiseProton, resulting in considerable hardship for Malaysians who need cars because of the poor public transport system? Why was it necessary for Proton to buy a stake in a failed Italian motorcycle manufacturer when it could not even produce cars competitively?

4. Heavy industries

Why did you push into heavy industries such as steel and cement in the 1980s, ignoring studies which suggested developing natural resource-based industries instead? They caused major problems and billions of ringgit in losses.

5. Immigration

Why did you allow hordes of people to emigrate, mainly from Indonesia, in such an unregulated way that there are as many or more illegal immigrants than legal ones now, accounting for some three million or more people? Did you not realise that this would cause serious social problems?

6. Operasi Lallang

Why did you have to resort to this move in October 1987, when you used the Internal Security Act (ISA) to detain over 100 people, close down four newspapers and cause a wave of fear throughout the country? Was it to consolidate your tenuous hold on power then by using an oppressive law?

7. Judiciary

What was your motive to take action in 1988 to remove the then Lord President and several Supreme Court judges from their positions under allegations of judicial misconduct, a move which was heavily criticised by the Bar Council and other bodies? Was it because you needed more compliant judges whose rulings would not threaten your position of power in a number of cases in court?

Was this the first step in dismantling the judiciary’s role as a system of check and balance against the legislature and the executive? What have you to say to repeated assertions by many, including prominent ex-chief justices, who maintain that this led to the erosion of judicial independence?

8. Education

Why did you allow our national school system, which is the ideal place to develop ties among young Malaysians, to become so divisive? Why is it that our local universities, once the preferred choice of tertiary education, have deteriorated to a level that even students who gain admission prefer to enroll into local private universities.

9. Malaysia Airlines

Why did your government sell MAS (private sale) to Tajuddin Ramli who had no knowledge whatsoever about running an airline? Why did your government then later bail out Tajuddin by paying RM8 per share when the shares were trading at only RM3.60 in the open market, costing close to RM1 billion of the rakyat’s money.

10. Privatisation

Why did you allow privatisation to take place in such a manner that the most profitable parts of government operations were sold away like Telekom Malaysia, Pos Malaysia and Tenaga Nasional? Tolled roads had guaranteed toll rate increases and compensations in the event traffic projections were not met. Independent power producers (IPPs) had contracts that guaranteed them profits at the expense of Tenaga Nasional. What was the justification of privatising the government medical stores to Southern Task Sdn Bhd, and the resulting increase in the prices of medicines?

11. Putrajaya

What is the justification for spending RM20 billion on a grandiose government city at a time when office space was available in Kuala Lumpur? Could the money not have been put to better use, such as improving educational resources?

12. Indah Water Konsortium

What was the basis of granting Indah Water Konsortium a concession to manage the national sewerage system? Could you explain the RM1.4 billion soft loan to IWK which clearly has irrecoverable losses?

13. Konsortium Perkapalan Berhad

Why did you rescue Konsortium Perkapalan Berhad (then owned by your son Mirzan) and which had debts of RM1.7 billion using funds from Petronas? Was it not your administration which forced Malaysian International Shipping Company (MISC) to acquire the assets of Konsortium Perkapalan Nasional?

14. Time Dotcom Bhd

Why did your administration bail out Time Dotcom Bhd which was saddled with a RM5 billion debt? Why did your government use RM904 million from Kumpulan Wang Amanah Pencen to buy up 273.9 million of unwanted Time Dotcom shares incurring an instant loss of RM280 million?

Did you not force the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) to buy 81.6 million of the unsubscribed public portion of the initial public offering (IPO) of Time Dotcom Bhd at RM3.30 per share when the shares were trading at only between RM1.95 and RM2.10 and in the process incurring an instant loss of RM100 million?

15. LRT

Why did you bail out the light rail transit operators Projek Usahasama Transit Ringan Automatik Sdn Bhd (Putra), which belonged to Renong, and Sistem Transit Aliran Ringan Sdn Bhd (Star) using almost RM600 million from the EPF, which still resulted in EPF having to write off RM135 million with a share loss of RM96 million?

16. North-South Expressway

Why did your administration award the North South Expressway concession to UEM (which then formed Plus) and then provide them with a loan of RM1.6 billion which was half of the tender price of RM3.2 billion? What was the justification for your administration to grant Plus such over-generous terms, which included annual increment of toll rates and guaranteed traffic volumes?

17. PSC Industries Berhad

Why did your administration in 1998 award a RM24.3 billion contract to PSC Industries Berhad, together with an advance of more than RM2.5 billion to build naval patrol boats? Why were they also given exclusive rights to service the Malaysian navy’s entire fleet? Could you confirm that the first two ships built by PSCI could not even pass pre-delivery trials? How would you answer to the Public Accounts Committee’s revelation that it will cost the government another RM120 million just to salvage the first two vessels nearing completion after seven years?

18. Bakun Dam

Why did you award Ekran Bhd the contract to build the Bakun hydroelectric dam in Sarawak? Why did your administration take over the construction of the dam by bailing out Ekran by almost RM200 million for ‘work done’?

19. InventQjaya

What was the basis of inviting Libyan-American Sadeq Mustaffa to Malaysia to set up InventQjaya Sdn Bhd and to also give him a grant of RM440 million? What was the benefit for Malaysia and how has Malaysia benefitted? What has happened to InventQjaya now?

20. Forex losses

Why did your administration dabble in speculation in the international money market which ultimately cost Bank Negara almost RM9.3 billion in losses?

21. Bank Bumiputra

Why did you allow the mismanagement of Bank Bumiputra, to the extent that it had to be bailed out three times, costing the country a total of RM3 billion? Again, by dipping into Petronas’ funds?

22. Perwaja Steel

Why did your administration allow Perwaja Steel to be mismanaged resulting in RM2.9 million of the rakyat’s money being squandered?

There you are - 22 fiascos in 22 years. The bad news is that there are actually more than 22. Remember the APs, Maminco, Renong and many more. Those who remember, please add on to this list.

Anwar files libel suit against aide

PKR's de facto

MCPX
leader Anwar Ibrahim this morning filed a defamation suit against his aide over claims of sodomy.

In the suit which was filed at the Kuala Lumpur High Court registry in Jalan Duta, Anwar also claimed that the police report lodged by Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan was an abuse of the process of law.

On Saturday the 23-year-old Saiful had lodged a police report claiming that Anwar had sodomised him at a luxury condominium in Damansara.

anwar defamation sodomy suit 300608 02The suit was today filed on Anwar's behalf by his lawyers. Anwar is presently seeking refuge at the Turkish embassy after claiming that his life was in danger.

His lawyers, led by Ranjit Singh (left), said the suit was aimed at clearing his name in court following the scandal which could derail his political aspirations of becoming prime minister.

PKR vice-president and lawyer S Sivarasa who also appeared on behalf of Anwar told reporters that they have asked for the heaing to be held soon.

"As instructed by Anwar, we have filed the suit and also asked that a hearing date be set as soon as possible, possibly within this year," said Sivarasa.

anwar defamation sodomy suit 300608 04Ranjit then added that the application for the hearing to be set within this year was made on the basis that the matter was of public interest.

Elaborating on the suit, Sivarasa said that the police report lodged by Saiful was a clear abuse of the process of law as the allegations were clearly baseless.

He also said that the allegations made by Saiful were politically motivated and ill-intended towards tarnishing Anwar's political reputation.

"Anwar is ready to stand in a proper forum, in court, and challenge the report lodged by Saiful in order to protect his political reputation," stressed Sivarasa.

Aide planted by Najib?

anwar defamation sodomy suit 300608 01Sivarasa also claimed that Anwar's wife and PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has evidence in a form of a photo showing the alleged victim posing with an aide of Deputy Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak at the latter's office in Putrajaya.

Najib today denied being part of any political conspiracy in a press conference in Parliament.

He said that the photo of his special officer with Saiful was taken when the 23-year-old came to his office to seek a government scholarship to pursue his studies.

When asked what would be PKR's next course of action, Sivarasah said that Anwar will be looking at lodging a police report against Saiful.

"We will also be contemplating of lodging a police report against Saiful based on available evidence and the press will be informed in due time," said Sivarasa.

anwar defamation sodomy suit 300608 03Meanwhile, Sivarasa also made fresh allegations against the Attorney General Abdul Gani Patail and Inspector General of Police Musa Hassan.

"We have received information that both the AG, who was the lead prosecutor, and the IGP, who was the investigating officer, at Anwar's sodomy and abuse of power trial 10 years ago had played a role in the setting up of Anwar by fabricating evidence," said Sivarasa.

PKR's treasurer William Leong said that they had received the information from "witnesses who is now stepping out of the climate of fear after the March 8 political tsunami".

Anwar: No acts of sodomy took place

Meanwhile in his statement of claim filed in the court, Anwar said that Saiful had acted maliciously and had lodged the police report for "an ulterior and a collateral purpose to harm and destroy" him politically.

"The defendant (Saiful) knew that no sodomy in fact took place between him and the plaintiff (Anwar) and that his allegation of sodomy was false yet he lodged the police report," said Anwar.

He added that Saiful also knew that his allegations in the police report would receive wide national and international media coverage, which it in fact did.

Anwar said that his reputation has been seriously injured and that he had suffered considerable distress and embarrassment as a result of the police report.

He also said that he had not and had never engaged in sodomy with Saiful.

PM : Gov't not involved in sodomy allegation.

Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has denied that the government is involved in the explosive allegations that

MCPX
de facto PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim had sodomised an aide.

"We had no plans to do anything to him just because he says he's made a political comeback," the prime minister told a press conference.

He said he was shocked by the charges but disparaged Anwar's denials.

"It's always the case that those who are accused will deny it," he said. "The police will investigate and determine the truth."

The new charges, which allegedly surfaced in a police report lodged by a 23-year-old aide, triggered fears Anwar faced imminent arrest, but police said they would first carry out an investigation.

Anwar has denounced the fresh allegations as a "complete fabrication", the same charge that saw him jailed a decade ago.

The PKR leader, who was sacked as deputy prime minister in 1998 and jailed on sex and corruption charges, said the allegations were an attempt to sideline his spectacular return to the political stage after the recent general election.

Cops warn against demonstrations

Meanwhile, Criminal Investigation Department chief Bakri Zinin said the aide had personally written the report detailing an incident at a condominium in the Kuala Lumpur suburb of Damansara, and lodged it yesterday at a hospital police post.

"It's mere allegation at this point. We will look into it and establish the allegations first to see whether it is true or not," he told a press conference.

Bakri warned Anwar's supporters from launching another round of the massive 'reformasi' protests that erupted after his sacking a decade ago, a momentous event in Malaysian politics.

"If you want to create havoc, we will deal with you according to the law," he said. "The public should not pressure us by holding demonstrations."

Anwar said the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition was striking back after he gave evidence against the government and police over fabrication of evidence in the original case against him.

"This is clearly a desperate attempt by the Barisan Nasional regime to arrest the movement of the Malaysian people towards freedom, democracy and justice," he said in a statement.

"I urge the Malaysian people to stand against the repressive forces that will be unleashed by the government in the coming days and weeks."

Anwar has always dismissed the original 1998 charges of sodomy and corruption as politically motivated. He famously appeared in court with a black eye after being beaten by the police chief.

He was convicted on both charges and spent six years in jail but was released in 2004 when the sex charge was overturned by the nation's highest court.

Supporters gathered outside hotel

Since the March election that propelled Anwar back onto the political scene, he has said he is poised to form a new government with the help of defectors from the ruling coalition, undermining Abdullah who has faced repeated demands to step down over the polls debacle.

A minor party in the coalition this month called for an unprecedented vote of no-confidence in the premier, and left open the prospect of joining Anwar's opposition.

PKR said that Anwar and other top party members held crisis talks overnight at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur, where dozens of supporters gathered this morning.

"I am with my husband here to support Anwar against these allegations and to stop anybody from arresting him. Anwar is a good man and he will lead the country soon," said 24-year-old housewife Siti Husaini.

"Anwar is the best, he will survive these allegations," said Abu Rahim Mahrin, a 45-year-old lorry driver.

Aide alleges sodomy : Report lodged

A police report has been lodged against

MCPX
de facto PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim for allegedly sodomosing one of his aides - the second time that such an accusation had been made in over 10 years.

The report was lodged by the 23-year-old alleged victim at the Jalan Travers police station at 6pm.

KL police chief Muhammad Sabtu Osman confirmed that the report had been made.

The man has been sent to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for a medical examination.

"Yes, we have received a police report from an aide of Anwar Ibrahim that he was sodomised. But no, we will not arrest Anwar at the moment," added deputy federal police chief Ismail Omar.

"We will investigate this report first. We will look into it and carry out the necessary steps before issuing any warrant of arrest," he was quoted by AFP.

It is learnt thapkr anwar ibrahim pc 080608 anwart Anwar met with a number of party leaders at an emergency meeting late tonight.

At 11.15pm, PKR sent out an SMS message stating that the police had detained Anwar's special aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan this afternoon and forced him to lodge a police report about being sodomised by his boss.

It added that the police are expected to arrest Anwar soon.

Meanwhile, Anwar is expected to comment on this latest crisis at a pre-arranged press conference tomorrow.

The press conference is scheduled to be held after a meeting between Anwar and all PKR members of parliament and state assemblypersons.

Anwar expecting the worst

Party sources said that Anwar was chairing a party supreme council meeting at a hotel in Shah Alam when he received an SMS at about 9pm on Saturday night about the police report lodged against him.

"He then received another SMS at about 9.30pm and his face changed dramatically after reading that SMS," a party insider told Malaysiakini.

"He did not reveal details of the SMS but merely said that the situation was very serious," added the insider.

Anwar is said to have left the supreme council meeting to meet his lawyers until about 11pm.

The council however continued their meeting without Anwar.

Party leaders are saying that they have to be prepared for any eventuality.

DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang wrote in his blog that he had spoken to Anwar over the phone and that the PKR leader was expecting the worst.

Press statement at 1.25am

Anwar issued a press statement at about 1.25am, saying that the report lodged against him was a "complete fabrication".

The following is his statement in full:

"The police report lodged against me earlier today is a complete fabrication. I believe we are witnessing a repeat of the methods used against me in 1998 when false allegations were made under duress. This is clearly a desperate attempt by the Barisan Nasional regime to arrest the movement of the Malaysian people towards freedom, democracy and justice.

"The report has been organised by interested parties to attack me in retaliation for evidence I have recently obtained implicating IGP (inspector-general of police) Musa Hassan and the AG (attorney-general) Gani Patail in misconduct including fabrication of evidence in the cases launched against me in 1998-1999. This vile attack will not prevent me from releasing this dossier to the public.

"I urge the Malaysian people to stand against the repressive forces that will be unleashed by the government in the coming days and weeks. We expect the media, the judiciary and the police force to all come under the direct and unchecked control of the executive.

"My fellow Malaysians - we took a bold step forward on March 8 towards a new dawn for freedom and justice for all of our citizens. This people's movement for change must go on with all of our strength and conviction."

Accused of sodomy in 1997

Meanwhile, at about 1am about 400 people had gathered outside the hotel in Shah Alam to ensure that nothing happened to Anwar.

The party leaders and Anwar's lawyer SN Nair also held a press conference at the Shah Alam hotel at about 1.30am where they distributed Anwar's statement.

Anwar, a former deputy prime minister and finance minister of Malaysia, was sacked from the government in 1997 for allegedly being involved in sodomy and abuse of power.

In 1999, he was sentenced in a highly controversial trial to six years in prison for corruption, and in 2000, to another nine years for alleged homosexual acts.

However in 2004, the Federal Court - the country's highest court - reversed the second conviction and he was released.

Anwar has always maintained that the charges were a government hatched political conspiracy against him, a move denied by the government.

ANOTHER RALLY..... JULY 6 , 2008 .

This is not just a rally but a MEGA RALLY.....

AFTER NOV 10 ( BERSIH RALLY ) AND NOV25
( HINDRAF RALLY ) THIS IS THE THIRD BIGGEST RALLY
( ANTI FUEL HIKE RALLY ).

Can you believe that one million people expected to participate in this mass rally.

I think the 6th July Price Hike Rally is going to turn out to be an extremely strategic and historic political event in Malaysia. Do not miss out on being there to be part of the million that made it happen. The implications of the 1 miilion people turnout are many. Let me outline some of the major ones.
The BN lawmakers will get another big, very big, reminder of the power of the people. This is another major opportuntity, like the elections, to join hands with all other patriotic Malaysian to send that strong signal to the UMNO government that the people truly want change. The UMNO governement can only continue to ignore this message at their own peril.
1 million people will be a major international event. It will be historic. The world over will shift their attention to the unjust and crony riddled and corrupt regime of Abdullah Badawi - even if only for one day. The International media will project Malaysia to be like another Zimbabwe. This will pile up pressure on the UMNO and the BN lawmakers. This will surely make some of them re-evaluate their support for a position that is not tenuous anymore.
It could trigger a change in mind of those lawmakers who are sitting on the fence - especially those from Sabah and Sarawak. This reinforcement is necessary now, as it looks like the Sabah and Sarawak MPs are waivering somewhat under pressure.
The people need another shot in the arm to continue with their righteous struggle - it is obvious that UMNO is now recouping some of its lost ground by gagging, by bribing and by hitting out through proxies. A large gathering will increase the confidence of the Rakyat to the decision they made in giving the PR a chance at Government in the 12th GE and putting the UMNO government on notice.
A large multi racial gathering will give the Malays, Indians and Chinese of being truly Malaysians - a feeling that the UMNO has been eroding with its divisive policies and rhetoric.
So, all of you out there, you must make it for the Rally on the 6th of July in PJ. The date and location has been changed - please see the report below about the change. This is a major opportunity that must not be missed. Please pass this message along to as many people as you can and as soon as possible so, arrangements can be made to come for the rally in PJ. We must mobilise as many Hindraf supporters as possible to come to this Rally, just like for the 25th Nov Rally. We must be a significant portion of the 1 miilion who will gather there .
United we must act. We must act now.....!!
Quote"New date, venue for huge anti price hike rally! - Malaysiakini
Organizers have made changes to the date and venue of the planned mammoth anti-fuel price hike rally which was planned to be held in Kuala Lumpur on July 5.
The actually location which was suggested earlier was suppose to be at the KLCC. However, Dr Hatta Ramli who is the organizer of Protes said that the new venue will be held on July 6 at Jalan Timur, Petaling Jaya.
He mentions that the change of date to the 6th is because it is a Sunday and it allows more people to attend the anti-fuel hike rally. Apart from that he said that it is because they do not want to interrupt business operations at KLCC. They are very considerate =)
“An empty space at Jalan Timur will be used so that there will not be any traffic jam and it is also for the safety of those who attend the rally. It is a strategic location where people may come by the Federal Highway and Taman Jaya LRT” said Hatta.

You think your self wheter to participate or not.....

HARGA MINYAK!!!

The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) is a group of thirteen states[1][2] made up of Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Libya, Algeria, Nigeria, Angola, Venezuela, Ecuador, and Indonesia. Recently, Indonesia has decided to quit the organization, though it will remain a member until the end of 2008. The organization has maintained its headquarters in Vienna since 1965, hosting regular meetings between the oil ministers of its member states.

According to its statute, the principal goal is the determination of the best means for safeguarding their interests, individually and collectively; devising ways and means of ensuring the stabilization of prices in international oil markets with a view to eliminating harmful and unnecessary fluctuations; giving due regard at all times to the interests of the producing nations and to the necessity of securing a steady income to the producing countries; an efficient, economic and regular supply of petroleum to consuming nations, and a fair return on their capital to those investing in the petroleum industry."[3]

OPEC's influence on the market has been negatively criticized. Several members of OPEC alarmed the world and triggered high inflation across both the developing and developed world when they used oil embargoes in the 1973 oil crisis. OPEC's ability to control the price of oil has diminished somewhat since then, due to the subsequent discovery and development of large oil reserves in the Gulf of Mexico and the North Sea, the opening up of Russia, and market modernization. OPEC nations still account for two-thirds of the world's oil reserves, and, as of March 2008, 35.6% of the world's oil production, affording them considerable control over the global market. The next largest group of producers, members of the OECD and the Post-Soviet states produced only 23.8% and 14.8%, respectively, of the world's total oil production.[4] As early as 2003, concerns that OPEC members had little excess pumping capacity sparked speculation that their influence on crude oil prices would begin to slip.[5][6]

Adakah kita ditipu?

APAKAH PENDAPAT PENASIHAT PETRONAS TENTANG HARGA MINYAK?

Dipetik daripada blog www.chedet.com

Artikel ini merupakan tulisan bekas Perdana Menteri Malaysia Tun. Dr. Mahathir Mohammad . Beliau juga penasihat PETRONAS .

Harga Minyak

Harga minyak mentah naik sebanyak 400 peratus sejak tiga tahun lepas.

US Dollar) satu US Dollar, melebihi 20 peratus.

Saya percaya umum terpaksa menerima kenaikan harga petrol.

Mampukah Kerajaan terus beri subsidi?

Sebenarnya pendapatan kita tinggi berbanding sesetengah jiran kita.

Sebenarnya Amerika Syarikat sedang mengalami kelembapan ekonomi.

FAKTA KENAIKKAN HARGA MINYAK

sebelum 90 - RM 0.89

tahun 1990 - RM 1.10 (kenaikkan RM 0.21)
01/01/2000 - RM 1.20 (kenaikkan RM 0.10)
20/10/2001 - RM 1.30 (kenaikkan RM 0.10)

01/05/2002 - RM 1.32 (kenaikkan RM 0.02)
31/10/2002 - RM 1.33 (kenaikkan RM 0.01)
01/03/2003 - RM 1.35 (kenaikkan RM 0.02)
01/05/2004 - RM 1.37 (kenaikkan RM 0.02)
01/10/2004 - RM 1.42 (kenaikkan RM 0.05)
05/05/2005 - RM 1.52 (kenaikkan RM 0.10)
31/07/2005 - RM 1.62 (kenaikkan RM 0.10)
28/02/2006 - RM 1.92 (kenaikkan RM 0.30)

VIDEO DSAI KETIKA KEMPEN PILIHAN RAYA ( cara mengurangkan harga minyak )

FIKIRLAH...FIKIRLAH...FIKIRLAH...
